Chicken Tikka Masala

A creamy and flavorful Indian dish featuring tender marinated chicken.


Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala (for garnish)

    instructions:
  • Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, combine yogurt, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Add chicken cubes and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for better flavor.
  • Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade and add to the skillet. Cook until browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove chicken and set aside.
  • Sauté the onions, garlic, and ginger: In the same skillet, add onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  • Add tomatoes and simmer: Stir in diced tomatoes and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  • Combine ingredients: Return cooked chicken to the skillet and pour in heavy cream. Simmer for a few minutes, or until the sauce is heated through.
  • Serve: Garnish with chopped cilantro and a sprinkle of garam masala. Serve immediately with basmati rice or naan bread.
